Bio, Education, and Philosophy
Hello. My name is Tonya Branham, and I am a native of Dothan, Alabama. I received my public education from the Dothan City Schools. After graduating from high school, I continued my education at Tuskegee University, where I received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education with honors. I also hold a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Level Certification in Educational Leadership and Administration from Troy University. I am currently employed at Grandview Elementary School as the Enrichment Resource Specialist.
As an educator, I believe that there are certain mechanisms that work in providing for the success of children. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a stimulating, caring, and safe environment in which to grow and develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. I have a genuine concern for meeting these needs; therefore, it is my desire to help students meet their fullest potential by providing them with the knowledge and skills that they will continue to use long after they leave the classroom.
It is my belief that "ALL CHILDREN CAN LEARN" when placed in the proper learning environment. In order for that to happen, there are three essential ideals that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment (1) the teacher acting as a guide, (2) allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his learning, and (3) promoting respect for all things and people.
I have always felt that being an educator was "more than a job," it is truly MY passion."My greatest reward is being able to give back to the community that has contributed to my success.
